Ride X Taxi Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: September 29, 2026
Ride X Taxi, Inc. (“Ride X Taxi,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates a technology platform and dispatch service that connects individuals and organizations (“User,” “Users”) with independent, third-party transportation providers who subscribe to our dispatch service. Ride X Taxi does not provide transportation services, does not own or operate vehicles, and does not employ drivers. By accessing or using our platform, which includes ridextaxi.com and the Ride X Taxi mobile apps, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use our services.
1. Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions:
- “Ride X Taxi” refers to Ride X Taxi, Inc.
- “User” refers to any individual or organization using the Ride X Taxi platform to request dispatch of an independent transportation provider.
- “Transportation Service Provider (TSP)” refers to an independent, third-party owner-operator that provides transportation services and receives dispatches through Ride X Taxi’s platform.
2. Services Provided by Ride X Taxi
Ride X Taxi is a dispatch service only. We operate a platform that facilitates the dispatch of independent owner-operators in response to User booking requests. We do not provide transportation, do not own vehicles, and do not employ drivers. All transportation is provided by independent TSPs operating on their own account.
Bookings are made online at ridextaxi.com or in the Ride X Taxi mobile apps. You can also call 708-725-1212 and an agent will book your ride at the same flat rates. That number cannot send or receive text messages.
Service area: the north, northwest and southwest suburbs of Chicago, plus O’Hare and Midway airports. Rides between a suburb and a City of Chicago address are accepted when a taxi is available, at the standard rate shown before you book (not an airport flat rate). Trips that start and end within the City of Chicago, including between a Chicago address and either airport, are not offered. Rosemont is not served.
3. User Responsibilities
Users are responsible for providing accurate and complete information for each booking, including pickup and drop-off locations, times, number of passengers, luggage details, and any other relevant trip information. Users must promptly update any changes. Users are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations and for being ready at the pickup location at the scheduled time.
For airport trips, Users are responsible for allowing sufficient time to meet their flights. Ride X Taxi is not liable for missed flights caused by traffic, weather, road closures, or other delays.
4. Transportation Service Providers (TSPs)
All rides are provided by independent owner-operators who subscribe to Ride X Taxi’s dispatch service. TSPs are not employees, agents, subcontractors, or representatives of Ride X Taxi. They operate under their own name and on their own account and are solely responsible for their operations and compliance with applicable laws.
TSPs provide their own vehicles, equipment, and insurance. Current policy limits carried by TSPs are $350,000 per policy, which is above the State of Illinois minimum. Ride X Taxi does not control, manage, supervise, or evaluate TSPs, and we have no responsibility or liability for their actions or omissions.
5. Right to Refuse Service
Ride X Taxi may refuse or cancel service, in whole or in part, at its sole discretion. Reasons may include inaccurate or incomplete booking information, excessive cancellations, safety concerns, suspected fraud, abusive, disrespectful, or illegal behavior, or violations of these Terms. Refusal may be temporary or permanent and may be communicated to the User when appropriate.
6. Rates, Quotes, and Availability
Flat rates are published by suburb for trips to and from O’Hare and Midway. Flat rates are all-in and include airport fees and tolls for up to 4 passengers. Tip is not included. Flat rates are locked at booking and there is no surge pricing. Other rides are priced by the fare quoted before booking based on the details you provide. If trip details change, the fare may change accordingly.
Availability depends on TSP capacity and acceptance at the time of booking and thereafter. Service is limited to our service area. Rides to or from City of Chicago addresses are accepted only when a taxi is available and are priced at the standard rate; trips that start and end within the City of Chicago are not offered, and we do not serve Rosemont.
7. Booking, Cancellations, and Modifications
Bookings are confirmed only after you submit trip details and the system accepts the booking. Modifications, including changes to time, locations, stops, or other details, are subject to TSP availability and may change the fare.
- How to cancel: Cancel online in My Rides at ridextaxi.com or in the Ride X Taxi app.
- Free cancellation window: Until 2 hours before the scheduled pickup time.
- Late cancellation and no-shows: Cancellations made inside 2 hours of pickup and no-shows are charged the full flat rate or the full quoted fare. A no-show occurs when the rider cannot be reached or is not at the pickup within 10 minutes of the driver’s arrival.
- Refunds: Refunds for eligible cancellations are returned to the original card within 5 to 10 business days.
- Service cancellations by Ride X Taxi: Ride X Taxi may cancel and fully refund a ride it cannot serve.
8. Payment Terms
Payment is due at booking by credit or debit card via Stripe. Ride X Taxi does not store card numbers. The charge appears on your statement as RIDE X TAXI. Tips are optional and not included in fares unless explicitly stated.
Payment processing is handled by third-party payment processors. Ride X Taxi is not responsible or liable for the operations, errors, outages, or security of third-party processors. You authorize Ride X Taxi and its processors to charge your card for the fares, fees, adjustments, and other amounts described in these Terms.
9. Never-Stranded Promise
For rides pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance, if no taxi is available, Ride X Taxi will arrange a rideshare car at the same flat rate for the booked trip. Rides booked with less notice are served on a best-effort basis. If a suitable alternative cannot be arranged, the ride will be canceled and fully refunded. Ride X Taxi is not responsible for the actions or omissions of any third-party provider selected under this promise.
10. Airport Rides
O’Hare meeting points: Terminal 1 Door G, Terminal 2 Door E, Terminal 3 Door G, Terminal 5 Door E (lower level). Midway meeting point: Door 2 (lower level). Ride X Taxi texts the cab number when your driver is dispatched. Users must monitor their phone for updates and be at the meeting point at the scheduled time. Ride X Taxi is not liable for missed flights or other losses due to traffic, weather, construction, airline changes, or other delays.
11. Insurance and Liability
TSPs are solely responsible for maintaining their own insurance policies in compliance with applicable laws. Current policy limits carried by TSPs are $350,000 per policy. Ride X Taxi does not provide insurance for transportation services and does not monitor or guarantee the adequacy of TSP insurance. The independent TSP providing your ride is responsible and liable for claims related to transportation services.
12. Limitation of Liability
Ride X Taxi is a dispatch platform and disclaims responsibility for the conduct, actions, or inactions of TSPs and other third parties, including delays, accidents, personal injury, property damage, lost items, missed flights, or other losses. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ride X Taxi will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the extent any liability is found, Ride X Taxi’s total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to Ride X Taxi for the ride giving rise to the claim.
13. Business and Group Bookings
Unless a separate written agreement with Ride X Taxi states otherwise, all bookings must be prepaid at the time of booking. If Ride X Taxi offers a business arrangement to a User under a separate written agreement, additional terms apply, which may include invoicing, payment deadlines, late fees, usage rules, and termination rights. Any misuse of business access may result in suspension or termination.
14. Promotions, Discounts, and Programs
Ride X Taxi may offer promotions or discounts from time to time. All offers are subject to their stated terms, including eligibility, expiration, usage limits, and applicable services. Offers have no cash value, are non-transferable, and may not be combined unless expressly stated. Ride X Taxi may modify or revoke any promotion at its discretion, including in cases of misuse or suspected fraud.
Midday Saver: $5 off weekday pickups from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in participating suburbs, applied automatically. Participation and details may change without notice.
15. Communications and SMS
Verification codes and ride updates may be sent by SMS. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of SMS. If you opt out, you may not receive important updates about your ride. By providing your phone number or email, you consent to receive communications related to your account, bookings, support, and service updates.
16. Changes to Terms and Conditions
Ride X Taxi may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updates will be posted on ridextaxi.com. Your continued access or use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Governing Law
These Terms and any disputes arising out of or related to them are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Illinois for all claims not subject to mandatory arbitration or other dispute resolution required by applicable law.
